The South Carolina Aquarium is a stunning wedding & event venue set right on the gorgeous Charleston Harbor positively brimming with vibrant fish, coastal animals, various forms of sea life and plants. So Revolution Wedding Tours wanted to enhance the beautiful natural “decor” already there and designed a wedding inspired by the magic, power and beauty of the ocean.

The Design Inspiration Board, Ocean Wide, challenged vendors to dip their toes into an endless ocean of color, deep and vibrant, calm and powerful all at the same time led by Charleston wedding planners Scarlet Plan & Design. Comprised of a natural, organic color palette made up of more than the expected beachy hues, Ocean Wide combined a deep smoky purple with a paler lavender-gray, bright turquoise, navy, sky blue and a cool, neutral oyster tone, pulling every color used right from the sea.

From the Design Inspiration Board: “The sea is both powerful and moody, it’s ever changing tides reflecting the cycles of the moon. Allow yourself to be inspired by beauty, movement and especially the wondrous treasures found in the deep blue sea. From vibrant oysters housing smooth pearls to simple polished sea glass to coral reefs teeming with life, the possibilities are as endless as the horizon itself!”

Right when guests walked up the steps, sweeping views of the Charleston Harbor and the iconic Ravenel Bridge greeted them, Le Pumpe jazz band set the tone, and the elegant tablescapes filled the engaged couples with wedding fever.  Driftwood farm tables paired perfectly with gorgeous coastal chairs sat beneath rustic lanterns from Snyder Event Rentals. Set with simple china and flatware, the focus was put on the floral designs by the talented designers at the Flower Cottage and the setting.

Spike Bar Service served guests delicious cocktail tastings made with a local favorite and our longtime sponsor, Firefly. Their tasty concoction was the perfect beverage to pair with the lobster ravioli by CRU Catering.

Every last detail was carefully thought out by Scarlet Plan & Design to showcase this fun design concept from the watercolor invitations, oyster shells sprinkled down the rustic farm tables, oyster knives at each place setting and so much more!

Connie of Three Little Bears absolutely outdid herself with these three showstopping wedding cakes displayed in front of this tropical tank. From the "sea glass" made of sugar to hand painted watercolor cake topped with a gold octopus, she truly nailed the details and wowed the brides- and grooms-to-be with her jaw-dropping designs and delicious tastings!

Guests were thrilled to see not just one, but three lovely bride models roaming the aquarium in three very unique gowns! They really gave the brides- and grooms-to-be an idea of how versatile the aquarium is, perfect for every style and design.  I mean, what bride wouldn’t want to flounce around the aquarium in a beautiful lavender Hayley Paige gown while eating some delicious cake and taking in incredible views?

Our dapper model, Max of Holy Smoke Smoked Olive Oil, was such a great sport to play "Musical Grooms" for us, posing with each of our three beautiful bride models, dressed to perfection in a crisp navy tuxedo from Charleston Tuxedo and a colorful, one-of-a-kind snakeskin bow tie from Shop Taxidermy.
